Radcliffe Methodist Youth Group

There are three arms to the Youth Group. Mini Bus, DofE and other Youth Events. The Youth group is an internal organisation within the Church and appointments and responsibility lies with The Church Council
Mini Bus
It has been apparent the some of the members within the Church are not aware that the Youth Group has its own bus. It is registered to the group and so is part of the Church property. The bus is available for other community groups to hire so an asset we provide to our community.
The bus now in its four year has been self-funding but our reserves took a big hit when last summer we had to have some repairs to the engine costing us around £4300 which included lost hire charges. We are back, up and running but cannot afford anything like that again. The bus is in good condition and has only done 45,000 miles.
We continue to operate The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Centre under the name of Radcliff. Methodist Youth Group. The awards are for 13-25 years old young people.
We had a presentation in March for 35 young people who had gained bronze, silver and gold awards since August 17.
We have run bronze silver and gold expedition programmes this year.
One of our aims this year is to recruit some younger staff so we can continue the work. We are one of four volunteer centres in Nottinghamshire county Council, covering the county.
Other youth work
Since coming away from the Junior Church we have been doing less youth events and seem to be no longer involved on a Sunday morning. We have continued to support the all-night Shadow youth exercise and supported the carnival event in the village.
